    Hi Everyone,

My name is sandy. I am working in a IT company presently staying in pune (India) .I am staying single.
From childhood i always had a dream of having a labrador dog so wanted to buy a dog with my own money and give him/her all the love i can that i stored for it since childhood like playing ,taking proper care getting it good food ,taking to the vet at regular intervals etc.
But the problem is that i never had a dog in my past since childhood nor did my parents .
I am now well settled and want to get a lab now . I need all your expert advice and help on this.
I have read many forms and many things i came to know about labs . I know i need to devote more time with lab since no one is there apart from me to take care in the house.
i have a few questions for which i need all you advice and help

    1. i want a lab puppy . my office timing is morning 10 to evening 6 max 7 (at rare times) i can also devote a half an hr time in the afternoon lunch. i know its not the not good amount of time but i will try to give as much time as possible to my lab . so is it good enough to get a lab????
2.Since i am staying alone will that cause a problem ever for the lab .

    3. I am staying in a 1BHk apartment will that be issue.

    please advice
i dont want to ruin a lab life just because i love labs so much

i agree with Gautam. please wait a little more :) labs are high energy individuals i wouldnt recommend you getting one yet.

    as for your questions:
    1. yes your office hours are an issue
    2. staying single with a lab isnt an issue by itself but since you are working, when you are not around some one else should be there to take care of the puppy/dog.
    3. where you stay doesnt really matter unless you make sure to play with your dog and take him or her out on walks regularly to give them enough exercise and tire them out. Since labs are large dogs who are very energetic i dont recommend keeping them in apartments. there has to be a larger space and preferably a garden or safe roof for them to play in.

well....wait until either you have someone at home living with you who can care for your dog when you are working or wait until your job hours are lesser.

please read the thread in the link which Gautam has provided.

I must not assure you to follow my advice as even I'm new here (to this pet world :/ ).
But still, this is what I'll take an ounce for-
    1. You must search internet ( maybe from somewhere you find a dog who won't mind being alone! )
    2. Talk to your buddies, If they could assist you.
    3. I don't know if there are any places in pune like this, but here we have dog centres where we can leave them for few hours. Maybe you'll find some Help In Suffering Pet centre :).
    4. Again, I would recommend you to TALK ... TALK ...and TALK more to people... take advice, and sincerely follow them.

Let me put it this way

Would you want to have a child who is just 2 months old and leave her alone at home.... no one looking after her for 8-9 hours

I am sure your answer would be no

Please understand that you would be bringing a life and a member of your family at home

Hope you get the point, don't be sad, wait for the right time
