today my puppy and I had a walk outside after all the training i did with him on my rooftop with the leash. he didnt jump and try to make friends with everyone who passed by but did bark at them. i encouraged some girls to come over and pet him :) i wanted him to socialize a bit.

one of the stray dogs lying on the road called the whole pack  during our walk. i stayed calm and made a growling sound while i yelled "hey" :p stray dogs shut up after hearing my growl-yell LOL yuki watched what i did and happily followed me.

best part was  again the stray dogs tried to bark and growl at him.....my puppy followed my example, made a deep growling sound and barked with his teeth showing. the stray dogs scattered and went away without a sound. LOL i am so proud of my boy. :D

it was first time today so yuki acted very curious and was checking everything. our next walk will be easier i can feel it. ;)

It must have been exciting for Yuki...so many new places and smells and people :)

you should record your growl and sell it hahahaha
the strays here keep following us until I shoo them away...and Tyson just wants to play with any dog he sees.
maybe because I give food to them...sometimes when I am walking alone, they come up to me and rub against my legs...
it is kinda sad because stray dogs are so starved for love that they become so happy when someone pays even a tiny bit of attention to them...

and yes, over time the walks will become much easier...Yuki will get used to everything outside and even the other dogs will start ignoring him after some time...

by the way, Tyson has never bared his teeth...not even when a neighbour's dog attacked him....maybe he is too friendly and just doesn't understand that someone may want to hurt him :p

I did a small experiment once...usually when anyone walks past our gate, Tyson gets all mad and runs around barking and he looks quite intimidating...so I asked a friend (who Tyson has never met before) to just open the gate and walk right in while I was outside...Tyson was jumping and barking at the gate while my friend was outside, but once he came in, Tyson calmed down and walked to him with his tail wagging and licked him all over...

I think most dogs are just visual deterrents and won't harm a person unless specifically trained for that purpose. Just shows how much love they have to give to the world.

Yuki is same as Tyson :) he barks and growls but later wags his tail and licks even strangers.

I usually carry a stick to shoo the stray dogs away coz Danny would never growl. In fact if he had it his way, he would go and play with all of them... :)

the stick is just to scare off the other dogs in case my growling doesnt work. near my house there is a pack of 25 stray dogs. Yuki is used to seeing my mom and aunt carrying a fly swatter around to keep him from jumping on them so it doesnt bother him instead he follows quietly thinking that if he does something he will have a fly swatter/stick waving in front of his muzzle :)

I guess it asserts authority in some way over a period of time, the dog will start to associate it with the walk, just like the leash. Unfortunately, some of the stray dogs in my locality can get aggressive and charge so I need a stick to shoo them away.

got the dog walking stick. Yuki is super scared of it lol no one did anything to him, he just saw it and went backwards.

i opted out of using a cane or a big stick that could hurt any dog. :) i think this is enough for me.

Gautam, its not a flower lol its a paw print :p see closely:

i hit my leg with the sticks on display before choosing the one that hurts the least  and its not girly it cool  a paw print for dog-walks....the other stick didnt have the paw print and had leather at the end instead, it hurt a lot so i didnt chose it. i do have the option to keep the paw end or remove it.

 its not. i wanted a flat ended one because it makes more noise but hurts less...enough to scare anyone. i was being practical when buying it who cares about girly or boyish stuff :p

Had the same experience with Danny on Sunday when I went to the vet's. Being a Sunday morning, it was super crowded and I had to wait for over an hour. Danny wanted to play with a Neapolitan Mastiff who was 3 times his size... :D But was like a gentle giant... Danny had the time of his life... :p
I anyways dont pull his leash in such situations... If I ask him to stay he does but I usually let him play unless we're walking on the street coz then he wants to play with the street dogs which I ask him not to. He is getting better now and listens to me most of the time. I guess mixing up the treats worked well. :)

:D mixed treats is the best way to chose when training and its fun for both dog and owner. the dog learns faster, owner is happy and cuz he gets yummy mixed treats the dog is more eager to please :p hehe ;)

Totally and also the advice on running to distract Danny works very well. I followed it for a couple of days and Danny would just forget everything and run like the wind.. :p
I'm still sticking to the mixed treats and making him sit and stay as and when its required. Makes him a little more obedient under distracting situations as well.
